Service Description: In 2017, the NOAA Hydrographic Survey vessel Rainier conducted multibeam acoustic bathymetry and backscatter surveys in areas offshore of Washington State at the submarine Quinault Canyon. This mapping cruise was one of the early collaborative science activities that would later be known as EXPRESS, an inter-agency federal and non-federal oceanographic research cooperative of the U.S. Geological Survey, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, and Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute.
