Service Description: In fall of 2021, the NOAA Hydrographic Survey vessel Fairweather conducted multibeam acoustic bathymetry and backscatter surveys in areas within the Santa Barbara channel of southern California. Mapping activities were supported by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to collect seafloor imagery around some existing offshore oil infrastructure (i.e. platforms and pipelines). These mapping cruises were conducted under EXPRESS, an inter-agency federal and non-federal oceanographic research cooperative of the U.S. Geological Survey, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, and Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute.
This set of shaded relief images was generated from the bathymetric survey sheets F00844, which will be publicly available to view and download through the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information bathymetric data archive.
