Service Description:
This map was produced by the CIA and shows important shipping lanes, major ports around the world, major strategic chokepoints for ship traffic and the 200 nautical mile exclusive economic zone (EEZ) limit delineating the high seas. Boundary representation is not necessarily authoritative.

The width of the shipping route lines indicate the "significance of route", not the volume of traffic.

The image was modified by clipping the marginalia of the source PDF, converting it to png and reprojecting to Web Mercator (wkid 3857) in order to be used in an ArcGIS Online 3D Scene.
