Current Version: 10.81

Service Description: About 62% of crop production is for food, 35% is used for animal feed, and 3% is used for fuel and other industrial uses. Shifting more of the crops produced to be used as food could potentially ~50% more calories to the global food supply.

Although the full potential may be impractical, this analysis indicates that shifts in diet have a strong influence on food security. This map illustrates the percentage of crop production that is used for food.
