Service Description: The Soil Order Map of Canada displays the general distribution of soil Orders and Great groups across Canada. The soil Orders and Great groups are the two highest levels (broadest grouping) within the Canadian System of Soil Classification (Soil Classification Working Group 1998). Soils classified at the order level reflect the climate and landscape characteristics associated with the different regions of Canada. Great groups reflect differences in the strength of the dominant soil forming processes of the respective order.
