Service Description: In 1714, the British Government offered a prize of £20,000 for a solution to 'The Longitude Problem'. John Harrison was a provincial clockmaker who devoted his life to finding this solution, and despite numerous setbacks he eventually won the prize. His clocks are now on display at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. Nevil Maskelyne was Astronomer Royal, and a supporter of an astronomical solution to the Longitude problem
