View In:    ArcGIS JavaScript   ArcGIS.com   WMTS

Current Version: 10.81

Service Description:

The definition of ‘urban’ areas varies significantly across countries, which creates challenges for cross-country comparisons in both urbanization patterns and sub-national poverty analysis. The World Bank have been investigating quantitative measures of urbanization for several years, and herein are comparing two methods, the Degree of Urbanization (DoU) methodology and the Dartboard (DB) methodology.

This tile layer contains the raster layers describing urban areas, urban cores, and urban cities. Details on the original methodology can be found at links above, the code used to produce the data can be found here - Code to calculate Dartboard, and the raster layers can be downloaded from here - DDH entry for urbanization data
