Service Description: FEMA Region 6, in coordination with community officials throughout El Paso County, Texas have worked together to update the flood hazard information for the areas within the County. Since 2016, FEMA has been coordinating with community and technical officials, levee owners, State and Federal partners to analyze, assess and define flood prone areas within the County. The preliminary FIRM information is dated July 8, 2020. The current effective information shown on the viewer was previously released for use in supporting FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program. The dates of effective information range from October 1982 to the latest revision in December 2019. Previously, the maps were maintained by community. The result of this update will be a seamless countywide dataset that will assist maintenance and community floodplain management once it has gone through all required due process procedures. Preliminary data is available for review and guidance purposes and cannot be used to rate insurance policies or determine mandatory purchase requirements until they have been issued effective. By viewing preliminary data and maps, the user acknowledges that the information is preliminary and is subject to change. Preliminary date including new or revised FIRMs, FIS reports and digital FIRM databased are not final until presented on the Map Service Center as effective. FEMA will remove preliminary data for all impacted areas once it has been issued effective.
