Service Description:

The map is a mosaic of two maps from "Sanborn Fire Insurance Map from Northfield, Rice County, Minnesota" published by Sanborn Map Company in January, 1900. The source map images are downloaded from the Library of Congress website:

A 2021 release of Minnesota Rice County parcel boundary are used as the reference to georeference the map images using the Affine transformation. Total RMS errors are 0.36 m for the map in the south and 0.21 m in the north. Alignments over georeferenced 1938 aerial photo at the scale of 1:2400 or larger are used to aid the georeferencing process.
