Service Description: Rock thin section scan of sample BH250-21 PPL (Plain Polarized Light). Source image is created by Carleton College Geology faculty Bereket Haileab and his students. The tile layer is created by Carleton College GIS Lab.

An Earth spatial reference is assigned to the image to enable the image display in GIS map viewer and to make measurement on the thin section scan image. Distance measurement made on the tile layer is 100, 000 times of the actual distance on the rock thin section, and is an approximate. 

Source image is 4-cm by 2.5-cm.
