Service Description: This data is based on publicly available range data (GAP, IUCN, and FWS ECOS) for species defined as ‘imperiled’ (1,923 species). These include species that are listed or under consideration for listing under the ESA, have a NatureServe G1-3 status and/or are in critically endangered, endangered or vulnerable IUCN categories. For each range, we calculated the proportion of CONUS-wide range on lands managed by federal agencies. The range was assigned this value and all ranges were summed together. Values indicate the relative dependence of species in that location on federal lands.
