Service Description: This map, included in the "Experience Wildlife Drive" StoryMap, displays Edwin B. Forsythe refuge headquarters upon its acquisition into Brigantine National Wildlife Refuge in 1939.

The historical map displays past land-use features and management practices like the original mosquito ditches built along the marshes of the refuge in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

It also displays the names and features of natural creeks that flowed through the marshes adjacent to refuge headquarters, allowing the public to see how land use and management has changed over the decades.

Many of these natural creeks and channels no longer exist due to the creation of the Wildlife Drive, and the East and West Pool impoundments for the promotion of waterfowl populations.
