Service Description:

This dataset depicts the Conservation Values Assessment portion of the New York-New Jersey Highlands Regional Study: 2002 Update (United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Northeastern Area State and Private Forestry, December 2002, NA-TP-02-03), and the Highlands Regional Study: Connecticut and Pennsylvania 2010 update (United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Northeastern Area State and Private Forestry, Newton Square, PA, November 2010, NA-TP-01-11). These data represent the relative value of land with respect to biological, forest, water, recreational, agricultural, and scenic resources. This dataset will be synthesized with other agency datasets in the Highlands Conservation Act web mapping applications hosted on the US Fish and Wildlife Service's Highlands Conservation Act website (https://www.fws.gov/program/highlands-conservation-act-grant). More information about the Highlands Conservation Act can be found on the website listed in the previous sentence, or here: https://www.govinfo.gov/app/details/PLAW-108publ421Scale: Data are characterized within 27x27 square meter pixels. Accuracy: This dataset is not intended to be used for assessing fine scale parcel conservation value, particularly at a resolution below the minimum pixel size of 27x27 square meters. Further, these data are a synthesis of resource values and should not be applied to interpreting the value of a particular resource component. Source: This dataset comes from Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Program in the US Fish and Wildlife Service Northeast Region.
