Service Description: The genebank collections of the crop wild relative (CWR) are threatened in the wild by habitat modification, the modernization of agriculturas areas, and invasive species, among other factors, and climate change is likely to exacerbate their vulnerability. 
The wild relatives of Sweet Potato are concentrated in South America and in Central Mexico up into the southeastern United States. Areas identified for collecting the 12 high priority CWR species are distributed throughout this range.
