Service Description: "Landscape Exposure" is an index of how exposed an organism will be to the negative impacts of climate change in a local area. Areas of high landscape exposure means there is little local microclimate diversity and few local sources of stable water sources to help an organism cope with a heat wave or drought. On the flip side, areas with low landscape exposure (or high landscape resilience) are close the moderating effect of the ocean, have a diversity of climatic types in a small area, are close to perennial surface water, and/or are well connected to a diversity of climate types through riparian corridors. For a full description of the methods and source data, see http://www.esajournals.org/doi/full/10.1890/ES11-00044.1.
