Service Description: This dataset displays the current distribution of summed suitable habitat for birds in California, based on the suitability index from species distribution modeling for 199 species of birds. This data was created using Maxent modeling (Phillips et al. 2006) to model habitat suitability, relating bird data to vegetation and other environmental layers under recent climate conditions (1971-2000). The data is represented in deciles. This data can be used as one component conservation decisions to help protect birds in a changing climate.
