View In:    ArcGIS JavaScript   ArcGIS.com   WMTS

Current Version: 10.81

Service Description: This global layer represents the footprint of where people are estimated to live in 2016. This layer was derived from the World Population Estimate 2016 layer, and is designed to support Blend Modes available in the Map Viewer (beta). Use this layer to blend with polygon or raster data when it is important to focus the map on where people live, such as demographic variables or those obtained from the Enrich Layer tool

Data Sources:
Note: the values in this raster are not guaranteed to represent the population modeled in the World Population Estimate 2016 layer, which is authored such that all overviews and pyramids are analytically valid and do represent the estimated total of population for any given area. To produce this layer a different resampling technique was used in order to best represent, for the purposes of cartography, the location of the footprint of where people live.
